You Probably Will Need to Re-Register for ResNet

Students living on-campus will probably need to re-register computers and other devices on ResNet on August 20th, 2009. The re-registration is necessary due to an update to ResNet taking place the night of August 19th, 2009. Re-registration can be done starting at 9:00 AM on August 20th by visiting http://registerresnet.neu.edu. Devices that lack a web browser may need to be re-registered manually. For information on this process, you can e-mail help@neu.edu or call 617.373.4357. You may be required to either provide the device's Media Access Control address or bring it into the ResNet Customer Service Center in Speare Commons.

It also looks like ResNet has finally admitted that students connect their own wireless routers to their ResNet connections in the residence halls.

The most recent document I saw from Housing/ResNet showed specific instructions on how to encrypt the wireless connections.

@epstemar, wireless routers are now permitted and are officially documented as such in the Acceptable Use Policy. Keep in mind that the owner of the device (who it is registered to at ResNet) is responsible for ALL traffic going through it, whether it is theirs or not.
